The Church and Your Calling

The Church and Your Calling

No two Churches are the same. Whether down to tradition, location, culture, leadership goals or the emphasis on a particular ministry, every Church has something different about it. Yet, these two things are true of all Churches: that the body of believers make up the Body of Christ (Romans 12:5) and the Gospel is central in that union (Ephesians 4:15-16).

The Gospel calls for a steadfastness to its claim of exclusivity and leaves no room for compromise (John 14:6), yet how your Church builds around that core truth will look different from one to the other as we utilise the different gifts God gives us (1 Corinthians 12:4-6).

Use what He has given you

Not only does our Father bestow gifts upon us to equip us for service, but He puts us exactly where He wants us (Acts 17:26). Your placement and gifting could be exactly what someone in your local area needs and attracts them to your Church, or what someone who is moving into your area is looking for in a Church. For instance, maybe you hold to a specific confession, are more traditional singing meaty hymns from a hymnbook, have a large student congregation, or  perhaps have certain ministries that are close to the heart of the Church.

How will they know this?

Your Church website may be how a person gets their first impression of who you are and what the Church is about. Make it count!

Ensure your website clearly lists those things most important to your Church and any distinctives. Don’t try to be the Church down the road, there’s already one of them. Instead, be the Church God has called and equipped you to be, remaining open to growth as your Church attracts new people who will come with their own gifts, and also encourages those already there in their gifts, refining them and discovering new gifts for the use of God our Father and His glory (1 Corinthians 10:31).

Church Edit offers unlimited images and webpages, so there's plenty of room to post information and pictures relating to the goings on at your Church to show who you are and keep your current members in the know.
