Top level menu
Making it easier for you to find your way around Global Office we have moved the menu in Global Office to the top of the screen.

Content Management
When you login to Global Office and go to WEB PAGES you will notice that the folder listing is now down the left hand side and will always show when you are viewing the web page section. This makes it much easier for you to find your way around the web pages.
When you click on a folder name you will see different options for the folder depending on if you are using Church Edit or Church Edit Pro and the access level that you have (if you have the master login for the website then you will see everything).

NOTE: if you do not have ‘master access’ to Global Office then only folders that you are authorised to view will be displayed.

Every page now has an audit history which means you can revert back to a previous version of a page. You will also be able to temporarily hide web pages and folders from view.

Draft pages – when creating a page there is now the option to save it as DRAFT before publishing it.

Expire Dates for pages – pages can be set to expire automatically. If you set an expiry date then the page will not be displayed on the website after this date. You will be able to amend/delete the page in Global Office.
Hide pages and folders – Christmas comes but once a year. Now you can hide folders or pages so they are not shown on the website. You can then show them when you need to.

Folder Access Levels – one of the main updates for Church Edit is the web page access and approval system. This means that you can give members of your church access to update a specific folder. The following access levels are available for each folder:

Folder Editor

  • Add/edit/delete pages
  • Add/edit/delete forms
  • Approve/reject pages that an author submits

Folder Author

  • Add/edit pages and submit these for approval

Church Edit Plus allows folders to be seen by:

  • Everyone
  • Members only
  • Particular group (see the Groups section below)

Documents
Previously any documents added to a webpage were automatically displayed to the left of the web page and there was no control over where these were displayed. Now, documents such as PDF, Microsoft Word can be linked from anywhere in the webpage. To link documents click on the ‘Insert Link’ icon in the Web Editor.
NOTE: any existing documents linked from the web page will now be displayed at the bottom of your page. You can change this by editing the page and moving the document link anywhere in the page

Groups (Church Edit Pro)
The group section will become more powerful in the future as tools such as rotas and registration trackers are added to the site. To administer your groups go to the group menu in Global Office where you can create groups and add/remove members.
Once you have created group you will be able to set folders so they can only be seen by that group. For example if you create a group called ‘Leaders’ you can then create a folder called ‘Leader Notes’ and make this only available to the member of the Leaders group.
Every group can have members and managers. Groups Managers will have access to Global Office to:

  • add/remove members to the group
  • add events/audio and photos to the group

NOTE: If you previously had groups on your site, they have automatically been made a sub-menu of a folder called ‘Groups’.

Audio
You can now add upto 5 audio files to your website for free. If you require additional space then it is priced at £50pa +vat per 50 additional files.

New Designs
New designs and templates have now been added to the website. To change your template go to SETTINGS > CHOOSE TEMPLATE.

Minor Updates
Calendar – there is now the option to have the end time displayed in the summary. To change this go to CALENDAR > CALENDAR OPTIONS.

Messaging System – when a new message is sent to another member on the website, a copy will also be emailed to that member.

Poll – the maximum length of the poll question and answers has now been increased.

Web Editor - the web editor has been updated to the latest version. This is cross-platform (PC and MAC) and works with Internet Explorer, FireFox and Google Chrome.

Images
- images added to your Church Edit website through the Editor can now be categorised site-wide or just to that particular category.

There are more detailed guides available by going to Help from within Global Office.
